Monthly Community Update from Sgt McArthur – November 2025 |
||
|
Good evening Resident,
Our team of sergeants on the city centre have now started sending out monthly updates on the work our teams are doing. Unfortunately at the time of writing these I was not aware that the sergeants are only able to send to our city centre mailing list (145 people), I am passing on these messages as I am able to send to the wider Wolverhampton area (10,000 people) - this will be until further notice.
Thanks for your continued support.
Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well. As we move through November, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving. 🔍 Local Priorities Our current focus areas include: Anti-social behaviour- We have been carrying out patrols in and around Dudley Street, Lichfield Street and Tower Street where we have seen some specific issues with ASB - mainly drug misuse and persistent begging. We have our dedicated neighbourhood officers also patrolling the bus station during peak hours to prevent any ASB Reducing public place violence– Last week, all three of our teams took part in Op Sceptre, our national initiative to reduce knife crime and remove weapons from our streets. -A knife arch deployed at the new Wolverhampton College building -Officers delivering education and advice about local knife bins -Targeted knife sweeps in hotspot locations during peak times -This work is vital in keeping our communities safe and raising awareness of the dangers associated with carrying knives. Theft – Although we are currently showing reductions in Theft from the person, we are aware that this is a seasonal offence, so as we head into darker nights and the busy Christmas period, we can see an increase in November and December. As a result of that our officers are on high-visibility patrols and pursue offenders who are identified for this offence by working closely with businesses and the public. Last week we charged two people with a theft from the person offence, but we still encourage everyone to stay vigilant. Simple steps can make a big difference: -Avoid carrying large amounts of cash -Stay aware of your surroundings when using cash points or paying for goods -Be cautious of distractions -Never leave personal belongings unattended -We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise. 🤝 Partnership Working We’ve been working closely with: Recovery near you/P3 -we continue to work together to support the homeless outreach programmes City Centre car park– Tower street car park. We responded to calls and have worked with the owner to reduce concerns and make the area cleaner, feeling safer and our officers continue to patrol the area on a regular basis These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs. 🧑🤝🧑 Community Involvement Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in: Christmas Lights Switch-On- Last weekend saw the start of the Christmas festivities with the city’s Christmas lights switch-on. Hundreds of people joined us to enjoy the show—and even a visit from Santa himself! The team was out ensuring everyone could enjoy the evening safely.
🎉 Upcoming Events Cuppa with a Coppa- You may have spotted our fantastic PCSOs holding their regular Cuppa with a Coppa sessions in Costa. These continue to be a huge success, providing business owners, employees, stakeholders, and members of the public the chance to meet their local officers, raise concerns, ask questions, and receive practical crime prevention advice. Operation Silent Night – Starting Friday 5th December
